These guys at the top of the Republican Congressional Committee had to have known that something was up with this guy—maybe not as detailed as we know now, but they had to know that a Congressman dumb enough to send personal email messages like the ones they knew about 6 months ago was probably dumb enough to have done more. They should have investigated the hell out of him then.
I view this as a personal failing of Reynolds (my rep) and Hastert, among others. Reynolds went to Hastert and said they had an issue, and when Hastert let it drop, Reynolds should have done something about it. He put his party machinery and organization above his personal responsibility as a human to protect those pages. He had an opportunity to show true leadership, but chose to be nothing but a politician.
I am SO glad I get to vote AGAINST Tom Reynolds this year. I don’t even know who the kook is who is running against him.

Is it wrong of me to think that people are reacting too strongly to this? 16 is the new 21. 16 year olds today are exposed to much more than any of us would like. Just type ‘sex’ into Google and toggle over to images, and voila, chicks with dicks, blowjobs, penetration. These 16 year-olds know a lot more than we did at that age.
Now I am not saying he isn’t two-faced and a bit off, and the whole ‘It was the alcohol and the clergy abuse that made me this way’ is totally deplorable. I thought 16 WAS the age of consent. Did a quick google and found that it is not the age of consent for all states. I also wasn’t familiar with the definition of pedophilia that takes into account the local age of consent.

What is the age in his state? Would it be Florida or New Orleans or DC or all three? What is the age in DC?
DC is 16. Florida is 16/18 (if you are 24 or under, you can boink a 16 year old. Otherwise, its 18). And Louisiana is 17.
HOWEVER, in Florida and Louisiana, man-man love is illegal (probably just sodomy). Repealed in DC.
