What’s Your Bodily Woe?

Some folks, they get constipated. Others get the runs. And then there are others who get stomachaches or suffer from nausea every time they eat. Me? It ain’t even 8 AM and I have already taken a Pepcid. Heartburn will be the death of me. Whether death is directly related or delivered by my very own hand. It’s gonna take me down one way or another.

  3. That is a great combo! I have trouble breathing, too. But that’s because I am allergic to cats and I have three of them.

  4. stomach problems mainly, especially that nausea you mentioned (sometimes i can go a whopping 3 days without throwing up), sometimes heartburn so bad it triggers asthma. i’m allergic to random chemicals and common medicines and currently have a rash all over my body. The allergies suck the most cuz the stuff is in everything!

sorry bout your tummy. super sucky.

  5. The weirdest part is I didn’t have any heartburn during the first phase on the South Beach diet. Maybe I need to eat like that all the time. Maybe that will be the death of me.
You throw up that often, mia? Poor gal.

  6. mia sounds like an ulcer or hyenal(sp?) hernia mixed with a little ulcerated esophagus. you too michele so watch out, metaplasia of the lower esophagus can turn into what is called “Barrett’s esophagus” is dangerous and fatal if not taken care of. i’m the proud father of all of the above plus cronic gastritis. unfortunately i don’t have health-care so have to go the holistic route. bismouth and antibiotics are the keys to fixing an ulcer because most stomach problems stem from bacteria that we eat and are out of balance because we are not eating properly. i can’t fix mine but i can tame it. i eat yogurt every morning and mix it with pepsid daily(sometimes nexium when i can borrow someone’s perscription ; ) ) anyhow, the bacteria cultures ( Acidophilus )in the yogurt help keep the bugs in my tummy at bay.

  7. For awhile, I used to get headaches daily. Some minor, but others that would make me nauseous and totally incapacitated (i guess that would be a migraine but how do you really measure pain? it’s not like it has it’s measuring tape or fujiyama scale). mortrin was a daily vitamin for me. but, miraclously, they slowly went away. now, I only get them when i get hungover, and I get hungover easily, usually when I don’t get drunk. that’s a whole other issue now.

but for the past few years, it’s been chronic back & joint pain. if it’s not my lower back, it’s my upper back. if it’s not my upper back, it’s my right shoulder. the other night, my shoulder ached so bad, I had to call it an early night short and rushed home to ice it (what did i do flare up my shoulder? your guess is as good as mine. it flared up when I was in the movie theater. after eating dinner. real strenous activities I involve myself with). and I’m only 30. how will I be when I hot 60? will they have complete joint replacement surgery by then? “yes doctor, I’ll go with the spine replacement surgery, with a rotator cuff tune-up as my side. you’re offering a free calf implant with any two services? sure why not. sign me up.”

  8. Sir Kerned John, I have back shoulder/upper back pain. My shoulder is inflamed as I fucked up my fascia. The doctor I went to said it was probably from using a mouse and sitting incorrectly and once you hurt it it doesn’t heal. I have lived this way now for over a year. :[ But some days are worse than others. You should get that checked, too.

  11. hmmm…fasicia…first I’ve heard of that…what did he prescribe as treatment, besides correct desk sitting posture?

Damn computers! Think there’ll be a a study on us, surrounding the long term health hazards of being a designer like they did with coal miners?

  12. I have many like shoulder and neck pain and chronic allergies but the one that pains me the most is zits on wrinkles. I just thought that at some point in my life I’d have a period of clear complexion, however short it might be, between acne and old skin, but no.

  13. Funny you should ask, he gave me Vioxx. I took it for a week and then my insurance company needed me to call in before they would help with the 300+ prescription. I am a lazy bitch and never called. My laziness might have saved me some future heart problems. :]
It’s the mucous like membrane between your bones. Mine became inflamed. And now it’s been that way ever since. Freaking sucks.
He told me to keep with the yoga and use a heating pad on it. that helps. I also have Toby rub it when it’s really bad. And he can feel (and I can hear it) isn’t that gross?

  14. I have back shoulder/upper back pain, too! I don’t know what a fascia is… going to check it out now as i, everyday, sit incorrectly at my gray, plastic laminate workstation feeling discomfort behind my shoulderblade. Yoga you say? going to check that out now…

  15. My other bodily woe (which i hesitate to disclose)is a crop of warts on the heal of my foot. When i finally did achieve Health Care Coverage status i had them checked out. The doctor prescribed some topical medicine (made by 3M… the tape people) usually used to treat genital warts (!). It was expensive and did not do a damn thing other than give me a complex. On my follow-up visit he asked if I had tried the old duct tape trick (yes, i have) told me they are stress related (i have had them for almost 5 years now) and i should go online and try some of the other homeremedies that folks out in cyberspace suggest. I now officially have no faith in our medical system.

  16. Gina, everything you just described I have gone through. I still have the wart. I have even had it cut out twice and it’s still there. I tried the duct tape, too. didn’t work. I’ve tried everything but the idea of rubbing fatback on it and burying it in the yard. Weird, but people do it.
I need to make an appointment to have it gone once and for all. One night, I actually decided to get drunk and have Toby carve it out once and for all. But then I got too drunk and instead passed out.

  19. heh late in reading these comments but, yes! greg is very smart. that’s it exactly. hiatal hernia, and this past spring i was scoped to see if i had barrett’s esophagus (scary!). fortunately i guess 5 years of prevacid worked because i was ok inside. i’ve modified my diet and when i do that i’m much better, but it’s a slippery slope that turns ugly quick, and also stopped taking all my Rx’s (like the pill). i used to eat lots of yogurt and stuff (i tested neg for an ulcer, also good) before i realized i was lactose intolerant. so sad- i love dairy. the rest of it i think is nerves. i def feel myself churn when i get upset or have something bothering me for a long time.
