I understand that a family would be devastated after watching their daughter get mauled by a tiger. But will someone please explain to me why the tiger then deserves to be killed? IT’S A TIGER. And somehow I still muster surprise…
Please note: If I am ever dumb enough to have my daughter pose with a live tiger for a photo op and said tiger eats her alive, you may pardon the tiger. The tiger can go on living. But, by all means, have me committed.
I cannot stand stories like this, and I may get flamed for this, but I totally root for the animals.

If the tiger were ‘sentenced’ to be killed, I’d be wholly opposed to it. “It’s a fucking Tiger” is dead on.
BUT, it sounds like they may have killed the tiger while trying to save the girl/themselves. Tiger gets agitated, starts to eat a girl, turns on a handler, people have guns, its a fucking tiger, they shoot.
I understand the second scenario, and although it makes me sad, I can accept it.
But people are so fucking stupid that I wouldn’t be surprised if the first scenario happened.

I’m just saying, albeit not well, If I were to lay down money on either party involved, it sure as shit would NOT have been the 16 year old girl. So perhaps the word “natural” was a poor choice.

I think you have stated it exactly. If you are stupid enough to pose next to or allow your child to pose next to a dangerous animal, one that is often described with the words “man eating”, you are too stupid to live.
The tiger is, however, just doing what a tiger does.

I’m not saying that its not stupid to be posing with a tiger. It is.
What i am saying is this: if they killed the tiger because they thought it was going to kill them, then i understand the justification. I don’t like it, but I would probably do the same if there was a gun in my hand and a tiger pouncing on a 16yr old girl or looking me in the eyes.
If they killed the tiger when they could have subdued it otherwise, or it was in a cage and was being put to sleep as a punishment (they do that with dogs, which is just fucked up), then I wholly disagree and hope those people get eaten by tigers themselves.

Didn’t Flannery O’Connor write a story about this, too? I could image her describing the scene: a bunch of fucking rubes posing with some wild beast, barely managed by a dimwitted handler. Even more beastly children goad the poor creature to the point of attack while parents smoke their Pall Malls and pick their toenails. The animal is then beaten into submission with someone’s prosthetic limb and summarily executed by an oaf in an undersized t-shirt. Whoo-hee! What fun.
