Frequent Flyers

We came up with a heavy screening process after 9/11 to thwart the possibility of another terrorist attack. Now, the Bush Administration is talking about giving “Frequent Flyer” passes to travelers who are constantly flying. I guess bitching pays off. So my question is this; won’t it be possible for a terrorist to get a hold of said pass and then, once again, be able to potentially board a plane with a weapon or a bomb? I don’t get it. If you have to fly a lot, deal with it. That should be the way it is. Why would we come up with a loop-hole that could act as an enabler to a dangerous situation within something we came up with in order to avoid danger?

Americans take a day off work to get through the DMV. We’ve grown to accept long lines and potentially long waits. Can’t we just accept a hassle when we fly?

Again, every day I spend alive life becomes more and more like a Dr Suess book.

After all of the “test” flights that the 9/11 terrorists took, they were definitely “frequent flyers.” Heck, if you haven’t flown in years, you probably don’t need to be screened. They got it backwards.

Well, yes, I thought about that as well. However, somehow the men who flew the planes into the building had pilot license and were trained on our soil. Things get over-looked, you know?

I’ll drive instead of flying, if I can, not because I’m afraid of terra-ists, but because I can’t accept the hassle.
Speaking of things being overlooked, the last time we flew, they found the Leatherman’s tool in my wife’s purse that she forgot about, but missed all the sharp items in her cosmetics case.

I hate flying so I, too, will drive if I can. But it’s really not that bad when I have. We were pulled aside in Florida and searched. It wasn’t that bad. We just did what we were told and then we went on. Not a big deal. :/ I dunno.
I have also gotten one with tweezer and whatnot. I thought those were off limits, too. I fly with my Epi Pen, too. Couldn’t I impale someone with that? hahahha just kidding.

I’m with you – we’re all so spoiled and impatient. Anywhere else in the world (not everywhere, but lotzah places), long lines and security measures are a way of life and no one’s complaining…

I heard about the Frequent Flyer and thought “what a lovely loop hole for possible terrorits infiltration, just lovely”

When we flew from Vancouver to Calgary a month ago for the Stampede, we took all of our baggage carry-on (it was just a weekend trip). My friend Mel had packed a belt buckle as a present for the dude we were staying with – a belt buckle shaped like a gun. Western-theme, for the Stampede. It was 6am and we ended up being assertively spoken to by an extremely grumpy RCMP man who had been up all night. Mel was patted down (groped) by a security woman. And someone asked us “Don’t you remember 9/11?”. I don’t think they needed to bring that up. It was weird – not only because I had only had 3 hours of sleep myself, but because we didn’t take it as seriously as we should have, and because we didn’t think they were going to be quite so serious as they were.
