A New Project: The Air-Conditioner Kickstand Series

I am working on a new series of photographs. It’s called the “Air-Conditioner Kickstand” series. Basically, I have noticed that there are an alarmingly large number of people who instead of using wood (as I am told you’re supposed to) to level their air-conditioner units, they’re using books. And I find some of the choices comical.

I started this project last night. I will have more each week. My goal is to find 100 books used as Air-Conditioner Kickstands.

More to come.

  6. Then problem with using the film camera (which I do carry around as well) is that usually, I have to zoom in as they are waaaaaay up high and you’d never be able to read them. :/ The lower ones might work, tho.

  8. I have a zoom for my Pentax but in order to use it and get a decent shot, one either needs a lot of light or a tri-pod.

  9. Short Story – I once had a neighbor in LA that had just moved from the east coast in the middle of summer. He lived a couple doors down from us on the 5th floor of a great old building built in the 1920’s. He frequently complained about how hot it was because he wasn’t used to the heat yet. There wasn’t any air conditioning in the building, so we all relied on fans. He then started to mention how he really wanted an air conditioner and how he was saving up to get one. One hot night, we had all of our windows open and it was probably 2am. We were laying in bed when out of the blue we here our neighbor yell “F**CK”, a couple seconds elapsed and then a huge CRASH on the pavement below. I looked out and saw a crumpled pile of metal 5 floors below. It was obviously the guy’s brand new airconditioner had fallen out the window. Luckily, it was an alley that no one had access to. I never asked him about it because I couldn’t keep a straight face because it was so cartoon-like. Funny thing is, he never again said a word about being too hot.
