Internet, I need your help. (By the way, thanks for all the deodorant help yesterday I am wearing men’s today and it’s working!). So, yeah. Help. Even if you never plan on buying a Bush Nosejob shirt, I would like you to answer some questions. If you’re fearful of leaving comments, email me at michele at mihow dot com.
I am placing an order today for shirts. I have requested medium white tees and large tees. I have also placed an order for 50 tank tops. What size tank tops should I get? Do you like your shirts large or small? Tanks or baby tees? Inquiring mihows want to know.
Here is the final art. (Sorry to go on an on about this. But if I’m going to drop the dough, I wanna get it right.)
I want to get one of the tees for Bartender Dude, and he’s probably a medium. But if I WERE to get one for myself I’d go with baby tees. I like my shirts smallish.
I’m thinking the artwork will be kind of small, too. I can’t stand when t-shirts have HUGE artwork.
You could always put your design on stuff at cafepress and let people order what they want.
I’d want a large tank. And if you went the cafepress route, I might get a long-sleeve T as well. :-) I love this design.
At one time I did look into Cafe Press. I can’t remember why, but I decided not to use them. I think because I wanted higher quality printing and tees. I wish I could remember why I decided against them. HmmmmMMMmmmm. Either way, the printer I found seems amazing. Plus, she’ll do a 4-color process which excites me. A lot of places that I got quotes from before said they would only do PMS colors which would make many designs cost a fortune as each color would have to be its own screen. Also makes for a nightmare when it comes to registration. I am happy they can do CMYK here for a lower cost. :]
it has just dawned on me that at least one or more times, I’ve typed your ‘name’ as “mihou”
me sorry
oh, um – go with large – best bet I think…regular tees always go first BUT baby tees and tanks are cuter! – um, not that this particular tee shirt design could be considered “cute” in any way, shape, or form – Hilarious, yes – but not cute
No worries about the name. I forgive you, silly lady.
You know what expression I NEVER got? the one where someone says “You can call me whatever you want, just don’t call me late for dinner!” What the hell? I mean, what the hell?
I always thought that the Land’s End “Team Sizing Tool” was super-helpful if you’re trying to guess at sizes.
For the record, I’m a baby-tee girl over tank tops any day.
I would want a medium tank…don’t do baby tees. My friend runs a store at an art college, and they sell clothing. I’m trying to ask her about what sells fastest…but she’s brutally ignoring my IM.
I’ll get back to you!
I am, too. But that’s because of the whole underarm thing.
Oops, that was in response to what Robyn wrote. Sarah, yes, get back to me. You’re the sweetest.
Not many men ever choose a medium – I would assume even the Bartender Dude would go for a large as the minimum size UNLESS he likes his t-shirts supa-dupa (apply crazy scottish accent) tight – but many women would prefer a medium. To explain (without much detail) why I know any of this = I’ve been in charge of many a bulk t-shirt order for many an institution… a few XT large sizes for big guys, the majority size being a basic large though, and the 2nd ‘most’ being medium size. All smalls in my experience have been special order for specific and SMALL individuals requesting the size – and there weren’t ever that many wanting a small. does that help at all? I dunno.
ANOTHER comment from me on this one…
that Team Sizing Tool from Land’s End TOTALLY ROCKS and it has no been added to my bookmarks foh-evah!
I wear medium.
And I’m chubby.
Toby is weird tho. He thinks normal shirts make him look like a human bell when, in fact, he looks perfectly normal.
I wear medium almost exclusively too. I have a couple of large.
mediums work as tshirts and undershirts.
large can be too big
a man’s medium is not an all out rarity – it’s just that if you had to pick one size or another for men, I’d go with a large… mah honey-man stands 5ft 10” (pretty average male height) and weighs only 155 – and he most often wears a large size, but again, I’m not denying men wear mediums – for ordering purposes, my experience has been more larges than medium
OK. So I think I will get a split of 50/50 in both styles. And even if I have to give them away, at the very least people will have more car-polishing rags. I’m still having a hard time deciding between baby tees and tanks, tho.
I’m 6’0”, 165 and I like medium.
It’s plenty roomy—even in the winter months when I don’t exercise, eat too much, and drink too much bourbon.
baby tees!
Why do I get the sinking suspicion Toby Joe and Jon are trying to turn this into a A/S/L sort of thing?
Well, OK, so maybe not Toby Joe.
We’ll see if Baby Tees are more pricey.
if it was clinton on the image, i’d say go with the wife-beater but since it’s bush, i’d have to go with the baby tee so someone could wear it to church.
haha! freak.
What does “ribbed” mean (when referring to tanks and baby tees, not condoms perv.)
Ribbed refers to a ribbed texture in the shirt’s cloth… they usually run vertically and are pretty thin. You can think of cordurorys for a visual reference, but on a t-shirt it’s much less three dimensional.
serious?
i don’t think printing on ribbed would work very well…..that guy might start looking like Alfred E. Newman and nobody’d get it!
Well, does ink sit on it ok? I mean, I am just a lowly designer. When I hear ribbed I get concerned that they ink will not lay flat. You see, I’m a moron. Just know that and we’ll all do just fine. I’m a stinky moron.
Yeah, greg. that’s what I was worried about. I will ask the woman I’m working with and see what she says.
Ok…I’ve been in touch with my friend, and she says regular t-shirts sell the best..she works at an all-women’s college, though..art college too…so I was surprised.
I don’t know if this helps you at all. I know I want a medium tanktop. Non-ribbed, please. ;-)
I have no idea what sizes you should get!
i’d go with an “iron-on”
Update:
She also thinks more men would wear that shirt than women…so larger sizes are better. I don’t know. If the image isn’t HUGE and centered on the shirt like you say it won’t be, I don’t have a problem with it!
IF it was the whole shirt, then I might not wear it out either.
I was reassured by the printer lady that the ink will be just fine on the ribbed shirts. She said they do work for MTV and VH1 all the time and there are 20 year old girls running around in these shirts. (I am curious to see what she’ll say when she sees this artwork.) Sarah, I am going small on both but even smaller on the women’s.
Whatever you order, I’ll need a large for my girls.
I prefer tank tops though. :-)
Standard girl tank tops or the ones with spaghetti straps? How is it that less material is more expensive? So weird.
Either variety is cool with me. My shoulders just got to be free, man.
