I’m getting my haircut tonight. I will take pictures so you can all make fun of me. I am going to The Little Hair Shoppe on Missy’s recommendation. If I don’t look hot, it’s her fault.

What is “Japanese Straightening?” Maybe I’ll get some of that.

Japanese Straightening is a heat/chemical process to give curly/wavy haired girls straight hair. It takes like 6+ hours of treatment. Its very popular with the jewish girls in nyc.

I could have used that when I was a teen.
So it’s not performed by actual japanese women? I imagine the clientele might change up a bit if it were.

Do not do the Japanese straightening. A friend of mine had it done. The first time her hair looked fantastic. Very pretty and straight. The next time it started breaking off. She had huge clumps of hair that were only 2 or 3 inches long. It is has taken a long time for her hair to recover. (She went to a really reputable salon for it.) Also, it is really expensive (I think she spent around $600 having it done) and your hair smells like chemicals for several days.

I think it’s because their hair is so straight people want to emulate it, so they call it that. I could (and probably am) wrong.

Some Asian women do have coarse, curly hair so maybe it was developed for them. I don’t have a clue either really.
