We are such a horrible species. I am shocked by this verdict. How is it abortion is deemed as a true horror, yet sentencing someone to death warrants a cheer and a smile? Is there ACTUAL evidence behind Peterson’s guilt? Can these jurors say, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he is directly responsible for these murders? I’m not saying I think he’s innocent, but the death penalty? Haven’t people realized how many times we’ve put the wrong person on death row?
I can’t believe Peterson is being sentenced to death while OJ is playing golf and banging hookers.

I totally agree… but I also do not understand why this trial has gripped the nation and gets such wide news coverage day after day after week after month.

I have no idea. It’s shocking to me. The ENTIRE escape is blowing my mind. The images I have seen of people cheering and making facial expressions one might normally seen when their team scores a touchdown are driving me mad. We’re so messed up. I could go on and on about this. But I will try not to.
I found out the verdict yesterday as when I was downtown in Union Square doing X-Mas things with my daughter. The title on the freebee newspapers that were being handed out was DEATH in big bold letters. It just turned my stomach to know what was decided. This whole trial thing is too much for me.
I love the fact that he was convicted entirely on circumstancial evidence, and sentenced entirely on emotion.
I’ve never been more proud of the US Judicial system.
This has been an interesting case for me because I haven’t been able to form a co-herent opinion over it.
I think he did it, but I don’t know if there was enough evidence, but alot of murder cases are circumstantial. I have mixed feelings on the baby, and mixed feelings on his sentence. If he did do it, then maybe I’m glad he got it, but not based on the reasoning the jurors have been giving, such as “he looks like an asshole”…so—I’m just going to pretend it never happened.
I can agree with life in prison. But the death penalty? Oh dear. That’s quite a judgment call.

It’s because Laci was white and cute.
This is why I’m glad I live in a country that doesn’t have a death penalty. These decisions never have to be made.
