LA tickets?

Mass transit is on my side this week. A twenty minute commute, so nice. And it’s so nice out. I want to travel. Today I may take a long lunch and go to the bookstore. I might even peruse plane tickets to LA. (Though the idea of flying is still horrifying, enough valium could kill it). I went to LA last year to visit a few friends and had a great time (even though I never really thought I liked LA). We’ll see. I’m sort of tired of the ugliness sometimes. Today a man on the L train was masturbating in clear view. It was through his pants but left nothing to the imagination. Twas not pleasant. Not one bit.
There’s an article in this month’s Time magazine called Should You Be A Vegetarian? It’s really quite good. I highly recommend picking it up. It’s responsible for having me choose oatmeal with nuts, raisins, and bananas over my normal bagel with cream cheese. I’m thinking it’s time for a change in the diet.

That is all, for now. I am going to finish what I began here yesterday.

  1. i leafed through that article yesterday. couldn’t quite commit to reading it yet. i have heard that it isn’t very opinionated. with a title like “should you be a vegetarian?” i expect an answer from the article. but i still want to read it, even if it won’t answer me.

  2. ugh. that’s so disturbing. I once saw a guy in a three piece suit pissing on the platform for the world to see. granted, not as bad as masturbation but jeeeez it’s wrong.

what i love about LA is going to bars and not being bothered by smoke, it really was a stunning experience I thought.

  3. “even though I never really thought I liked LA.” Ha ha ha ha ha ha…. hee hee hee.

Didn’t I get a trip to a PSU game out there because someone may have thought you liked it a little too much?

  5. resa, you’re right it isn’t opinionated at all. So it might answer a question as to should you. But it did make me question my diet (and I am a vegetarian). It made me wonder if what I was consuming is proper and if there were ways I could do it better, etc. It’s more informative rather than persuasive. :)

  6. arjen, I agree with the smoke thing, and last time I was there I smoked. It’s super cool coming home from a bar and not totally smelling of smoke. I wish they would do that other places.

  7. informative is still a bonus. i’ve been getting more and more interested in nutritional info (can’t imagine why), so i’m looking forward to reading it. i just have to be in the right mood for it.

and bars in amherst, ma? no smoke. they are right behind la. i can’t think of anywhere else that does (and enforces) it.

  8. actually, resa I just remembered they do talk about pregnant woman and nursing mothers etc. Not at a great length, but they do discuss it a bit. :)

  9. that’s good to know. i know that nursing has a whole new set of nutritional requirements, but i don’t know how they differ from pregnancy…i assume i will find out. while i wouldn’t want to start vegetarianism at that particular point or even raise my son as a vegetarian, it would be nice if we could all be less dependant on meat as a source of protein, iron, b12, etc.

  11. I just had a funny thought, the way the average american is about guns (“It’s a fundamental freedom right..”) that way dutch people are about smoking, if you tell a person, a friend even, that they cannot smoke IN YOUR OWN HOUSE chances are they will be insulted.

  12. Email I received. IT does happen. I don’t know why, but it does….

“Sorry for your masterbation episode. Once I was on the bus and there was a
little Bruce Springsteen-looking guy beating it in front of me. I tried not to
look, but when I did it was huge (or at least it seems huge in retrospect).
It was yucky and I told the bus driver as I was getting off, so he wouldn’t
bother any old ladies. But he followed me and tried to talk to me and tell me
how sorry he was. The nice (!) bus driver made me get back on the bus and took
me to the next stop. “
