Car update

After a lot of thinking, I have decided to NOT buy the Volvo. It’s not the money (I don’t mind spending the 3,000.00 bucks on a car that I love). And I am not pleased with my decision at all. However, I can not justify giving a someone, (anyone), more money per year than what I spend on the car itself. I can’t do it. I have a PERFECT driving record. I’m over 25. A Volvo is a safe car. And still the rates I was given by 9 different insurance agencies (for the lowest liability coverage) were between the $3,200.00 and $3,865.00 range. This is so beyond the making of any sense, I can’t be bothered thinking about it, getting angry and trying to fight a losing battle. I can’t know that I played the game and lost by giving them my money. It’s not a matter of money at all, It’s a matter of principle.
On the brighter side, I have decided that the cost I would have dropped into the adorable car and insurance per year, would be substantially more than if I just rented a car whenever I choose. And even better, I don’t have to worry about fixing the damn thing if some mental midget hits it on the highway. That being said, I rented a car from Wednesday of next week till the following Wednesday, unlimited mileage, unlimited amount of fun and fully insured.
So, bite my perfect-record driving ass, Progressive, Geico, State Farm, AAA, Farmer, and all the little independent satellite bitches who wheel and deal other peoples’ shit. This is one person you won’t get. I win.
(But tell me, how do these people sleep at night?)

  3. I dunno. I was thinking either State College, New Jersey, DC or maybe north for whatever reason. I don’t know.

Freakgirl, is your beach thing next weekend?

On Sunday, my friend Nico will be at LBI, so I might like to crash her beach party.

But I’m down for any crime. We’re taking over the eastern seaboard. Me and Tobyjoe, taking over.

    Hide your puppies.

  12. Oh my, is that how much insurance costs per year in the US? Holy Moses.

One of the reasons Remy and I don’t look into buying a car is not becasue of the car payments, but because of the insurance as well. However, when I did have my car a couple of years ago, my insurance cost $550 every six months…so $1100 per year. Now it costs something like $1500-$2000, and that’s Canadian bucks. I can’t believe it’s so expensive there.

  13. The reason Insurance Companies charge sooo much is because of how often they get sued for soooo much money.

Michele, you’ve experienced this first hand. That woman who was in the accident had to get her bogus money from somewhere.

  14. Also, Melissa and I are on the same insurance, in the DC area on an expensive car and we only pay $110 a month. It’s just that the NYC area deals with alot of false claims and (real) break-ins.

  15. Megami, I pay about the same you do (in U.S. dollars).

  16. yes, and I can honestly say that if she were to die tomorrow or someone were to burn down her house or she were to lose everything she owns including her kids, i would not even come close to caring or lifting a finger.

I’d pull a DR green on her ass. Say, I’m sorry, you suck. I can’t see you.

I have never had that much hate for a person. She made several months of my life a LIVING hell.

    BItch.

  18. Freakgirl, I have found through online shopping sites and US catalogs that a lot of things sold in both the US and Canada cost the same (or very close) number of dollars from each respective country. When you factor in the exchange, I find that goods and services in the US can cost up to almost twice as much as they do here. And when you also factor in lower wages/hour in the US than in Canada for the same job (presumably because of the exchange as well), it seems that a lot of Americans are getting a raw financial deal.

    Or am I missing something?

And Mihow, I’m very sorry to hear that you were sued. What a horrible experience. I promise never to sue you.
