Thirty. Six.

At 11:36 AM, I turn 36 years old. I’m looking forward to 36—there’s no way it can be as craptastic as 35. I used to have a thing for odd numbers, well, 35 has cured me of that bias. Bring on the good stuff, even-numbered age.

Toby took the day off. And naturally, it’s like the coldest day of the year so far so I imagine we won’t be doing much of anything. Plans include: going to the gym together, because that’s what old people do. Getting some cupcakes and hopefully I’ll get to eat sushi. I love sushi. Although, eating sushi on the coldest day of the year seems rather stupid. So maybe I’ll opt for some good ol’ comfort food instead.

Anyway, thanks everyone who reached out to me after I wrote the dismal, previous post. I had had a day. But things aren’t all that bad and I’m feeling better. And I do thank you for your comments and emails. It means a great deal to me. And I will write each and every one of you. I promise.

  1. Happy Birthday!!! I will be joining you at 36 in just a couple days. I think sushi is a great birthday plan, and one way you can warm up the meal would be to add shumai! And maybe miso soup? You could even call it mihow soup, because on your birthday you can say anything you want. Anyway, have a fantastic day and enjoy your cupcakes!

  7. Have a wonderful birthday! I think that sushi, even on a cold day, is a fantastic idea! Have a small bowl of miso soup to warm yourself and then you can justify the cold sushi.
Hopefully 36 will be a year that you can look back on with a smile. You’ve got a lot of people who have their fingers crossed for just that very thing.

  8. Happy Birthday! I think you should eat anything at all you would like today. If you are worried about temperature, drink a whole pot of green tea with that sushi. :) Or the miso is a good idea too.

I hope this next year rocks your world!

  9. Happy birthday! I’m sorry you’ve been feeling lonely. We all feel that way sometimes, particularly when we don’t work outside our homes (or local coffee shops).

I hope your friend is up and at ’em soon!

  10. According to the Asian Zodiac, this is supposed to be a particularly lucky year for you. It’s the Year of the Tiger again and powerfully good things are supposed to happen.

    Yeah, I’m a tiger, too. :)
