Tuesdays With Murray (Chapter 100)

This is Murray. (Also known as: Murrl, Myrtle Man, Scrtichy, or Fatty Mcpherson.) As of today, I’ve posted about Murray 100 times.

I had thought back around Chapter 80, that I would likely bring Tuesdays With Murray to an end once hitting 100. But now that I’m here, I am just not sure.

I probably won’t write about him every week. But I think the world deserves at least a photo or a video. After all, he’s a pretty awesome cat. And I feel pretty lucking knowing him.

In the past two weeks, I read four news stories about animal cruelty that have and will continue to haunt me for days to come. I won’t link to them here, because I kind of wish I could forget about them and I’d hate to put someone else through it. I’m going to try and keep this positive instead of link to the horrific crimes people commit against these perfectly wonderful creatures.

So! If you’re feeling up for it, I might suggest taking a few minutes out of your day to donate some money (or time!) to your local animal shelter. If you’re looking for a good cause, I might suggest donating to ECC. They are responsible for Murray being alive. There’s also the ASPCA, who deal with some pretty horrific crimes and send equally horrific emails. (Sometimes, I weep reading their subject lines alone!)

It seems like every day there has been a new, horrible story about animal cruelty. Like you, these stories have really gotten to me lately, more than normal. Scritches to Murray, and here’s to more happy stories and photos of him to brighten our days.

He is gorgeous. I enjoy every tidbit about Murray. I have five; just adopted a polydactyl tabby kitten found in a ceiling two days ago.

I never understood animal cruelty, especially to cats. I see too much personality and love in their eyes to even think of doing something mean.

Anyway, Robert A. Heinlein said “How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven.”

Does yours watch television? I have one, but she only likes the big cat shows.

I cannot stand animal cruelty. It is by far one of the worst things I read about (even, I admit, above human-cruelty…except for children). I read the headline, and I get angry/upset/uncontrollably sad, and I cannot read the body. I have to admit, although I am ashamed to, that if anything ever happened to my two dogs or my cat, at the hands of someone being cruel to them, causing them injury or death, I have it in my right mind to do it back to them.

Animal cruelty is frightening, incomprehensible and upsetting. But as long as humans do it to each other, animals will suffer far more.

Despite this however, there is nothing I won’t do to protect my dogs and my awesome cat (her name is Oreo, and she’s pissed off all the time).

Lastly, I thought I’d just mention how awesome Murray is. I’m really glad that he’s still awesome after his various facinations with plastics, and that he’s doing well. He’s a gorgeous feline, and much loved (by the general public, mind)!

Okay, not lastly…I thought I’d just mention that my one particular dog, Morris, is also called Moe, Boo, Boogey Boo, and Bug.
