This just blew my mind a little bit.
This isn’t about politics. I feel really badly for Cheney right now. I can’t imagine what he’s going through. If this doesn’t say guns are dangerous, well, I don’t know what does.
The Vice President accidentally shot a friend in the face with a shot gun. It doesn’t matter how much money you have. It doesn’t matter where you come from. It can happen to anyone.
Either that, or, how the hell did he manage to cover up the fact that he SHOT SOMEONE for the best part of 24 hours? What if Al Gore had done that?
You’d think he’d have learnt how to at least aim a gun in the right direction in Vietn…oh.

A 28-guage shotgun is very small (after all, it’s designed to shoot tiny quail for eating, not to liquidate them). And while Cheney may regret the harm he caused his friend, the story seems to indicate that he doesn’t feel that bad at all. It’s a good ole boy thing: “Ha! Dick peppered Harry with shot. Those nuts!”
My takeaway: it doesn’t matter how much money you have or how many bodyguards you have, running around with guns is just plain dangerous.
I wonder if alcohol was involved.

Charlie, do you think Cheney is allowed to drink? I’m assuming he takes a number of pills each day in order to keep his heart pumping and the rest of his body, I don’t know, alive and ticking. My first thought is that all the pills are getting to his head.
Now, his buddy could have been drinking the booze. Who knows.
I have to head to work. Doug, can’t wait to read that. Gonna wait till I cross under the river, thought.

The thing is, I think its almost certain that he didn’t do anything wrong. But surely, any accidental shooting requires at least the formalities of a brief police interview?
Either that or Harry had just struck oil, and Cheney just automatically switched back onto neo-con autopilot!

You are such a better person than I am. I didn’t give much thought to the poor guy whose face was shot when I first saw this story yesterday. I was too busy laughing my ass off.
