  1. It’s a TOON-OFF!

    Nostradamus warned of such things.

If it moves to rock-paper-scissors, we all head to Greg’s bomb shelter.

  2. You gonna enter? I hear the prize is gold coins. We could use some cold coins.

  3. I mean “Gold” coins. Cold, too.

  4. You know what? Let’s enter and if we win we’ll give the gold coins back and ask that everyone just chill. That’s what the prize should be: silence.

No need to apologize. I think Toby Joe wanted to add a verse to his name.

  12. if we could simplify it like that, it would be great ….to bad they’ll never believe it. we are not up against religion, like christianity that lost its “Christendom” back with the romans. we are dealing with islam as both a religion and a way of life. getting rid of that is impossible. islamists are a connected people around the world. palestinians muslims and canadian muslims are muslims first, then their nationality second. mecca is their capital then their nations capital second. offense on a muslim is an attack on all muslims, hence the worldwide display of cartoon riots. so, why is it that they can draw pictures that talk poorly about jews or christians? because they are nonbelievers and that is not their God, so they can do whatever they want, no us.

  14. but that was political, i think this is different.

  15. And you’re so sure that this isn’t political, too? Our characterizations of Muslims and Islam have been almost entirely formed by the same media that misreported Cindy Sheehan’s removal from the State of the Union address.

You claim “that they can draw pictures that talk poorly about jews and christians” because they don’t share the same God. The fact is that they DO share the same God. Muslims realize that all three religions descend from Abraham, and Koran includes many of the same stories found in the Old Testament.

The claim that all Muslims are fundamentally traitorous and loyal to their religion first can lead dangerously to a justification for internment camps, wiretaps, and the suspension of civil rights.

  16. sorry michele

charlie no, i’m not sure it’s not political…… and i don’t typically trust the media so i went out and bought the koran and i started reading(does that make me an expert? no )

yes, from our point of view we worship the same god…but so do the mormons, just their guy came later than jesus. jesus is a prophet of islam, yes, but God spoke to Muhammad(through gabriel) and the koran’s writings were “found on his(muhammad) heart.” the koran states that allah is the one true God above all, it suppercedes jesus thus making jesus obsolete as the savior of men.(just like jesus/hebrews) this is why they may produce pictures of religious icons in a bad light i.e. jews/holocaust etc because it doesn’t mean anything to them. as for the stories in the koran that also exist in the bible? i have not found one, i think what you mean is, there are traditions in islam, but i haven’t found one written in the koran yet.

i’m not really claiming anything of the sort. i’m refering to the koran’s view of the priorities of man, allah is and will always be number one(unless you’re not practicing true islam and this is my point), everything else on the earth is temporary on the journey to heaven. i am not applying any of this to realworld situations, i’m just saying that it applies at some level, what level i don’t know….but i will not ignore the fact that these ideas are written and obsevered by some(in the muslim comunity and also ignored by some and those who aren’t). and there’s part of the problem.

  17. You know what this world needs? A competition to submit more pictures to newspapers like those on page 3 of todays NY Post. And Mihow, this puts to rest that the Post is THE best paper in nyc.

For those that don’t live here (or those that do and like to pretend you’re ‘better’ than the rest of us), the picture was of this month’s Vanity Fair cover featuring Scarlett Johannsen and Keira Knightely (and some loser). Apparently Rachel McAdams was scheduled as well, but wasn’t thrilled about the nudity.

Greg, again, no need for any of you fine folks to apologize. I mean it. As long as no one starts name-calling and screaming, we’re all good. :]
