Today, i have decided to get soup from The Soup Nazi. He recently opened a store on the corner right below my office. (Yes, the guy who inspired that Seinfeld episode.)
If I do not report back within the next day or two, send help to 42nd and Fifth Avenue.
Holy crap, this soup is good. It’s way too pricey though. A bowl (small) cost me 10 bucks. But man, good.

how wierd, i ate shrimp bisque today too…not that nazi’s but rich none the less, it was served in one of those huge yet shallow bowls awesome. it was so thick that i actually ate half the soup and the other half never oozed over to fill the void!!! yummy!!! i love soup!

I did get bread. And believe me, this will not be repeated. I also got a free t-shirt and two miniature apples. But that’s not normal.
It wasn’t worth 10 bucks.

hehehehe, i didn’t want to say anything since i live in the back-country and it was probably an accident that it was even on the menu. i’m used to eating soup salad soda and sandwich for 10 bucks. i really don’t miss new york at all!

You mean the Soup Nazi place still exists? I thought he went out of business? I am going to have to check that place out this summer when we go on our annual trip…. Incidently I saw that Seinfeld episode just the other day. I would love to try their soup though….MMMMMMMM!

We’re gonna hit Balthazar to get michele what is apparently the best French onion soup in the world. The price is ~$20 per bowl, though.

Yeah, I hear the Soup Nazi is expanding internationally… or I guess he will try to until he pulls some really creepy shit and an army coalition overtakes him.
Though I rarely found myself on the Upper West Side, I visited the Soup Nazi a couple of times. The soup was filling and I was always served fruit (one or two pieces) and a thick slice of quality, homemade bread. One of the best deals in the city I think and always a vegan option! I made this french onion soup once that was fucking amazing.
From what i remember: The only ingrediants were 1 stick of butter, 5lbs of onions sliced thin, salt, pepper. The onions caramalized in half the butter, then a lid goes on to sweat the liquid out of the onions. Then they just sit and sweat and dissolve in themselves for an hour. add the rest of the butter. simmer for like 2-3 hours.
it was good stuff.

I tried to visit the Soup Man last week and the line filled me with rage. It wasn’t so much the length as the fact that it was NOT MOVING. How long does it take to pour a bowl of soup? You are a stronger woman than I.
