Over the years, I have gotten into trouble online regarding some of the things I’ve written. And I feel that I need to explain something. Perhaps I will one day figure out a better way – a more detailed way – of writing this out, but for now, this will have to do.
Nine times out of ten, I write these blurbs in less than 15 minutes. Sometimes, depending on the subject or the sensitivity of the subject, I will spend a half an hour on them. But usually it’s less as I write before leaving work or before work begins. In other words, I don’t have much time. That being said, I’m pretty sure it aids in the possibility of pissing someone off. (For that, I am sorry. Sometimes.)
Please remember that there is a person behind this. One who isn’t always exhausting every offensive avenue but who doesn’t make it a practice to piss people off. So chances are if you are offended, I didn’t mean it.
Perhaps someday should I ever be able to just work on JUST this and writing and publishing random thoughts I will become more aware of things and spend more than fifteen minutes or a half and hour on a post making sure to avoid offensive diatribes.
To be completely honest, however, I am starting to think that’s just not possible. If one were to avoid the possibility of offending anyone, one would have to give up speaking altogether. And then there’s always farting. And everybody farts.
It’s impossible to make everyone happy, all the damn time. Someone will be offeneded, or take things too literally, or maybe they are just looking for trouble. Anyway, you rock -as is. No need to make apologies. No need to explain yourself. :D
Who got offended? I’ll kick their ass! LOL.
I love your writing from the cuff…I spend the same amount of time on mine, and mine are not half as interesting.
By the way…how do we get the shirts when they are ready, and how much are they?
For folks who trust me, I’ll have them send me a check and once I get that check, I’ll send the t-shirts. I also have a pay pal account. I haven’t totally decided on the cost because I want to wait until I see the quality of the shirts. But they won’t be pricey. That, I do know. :]
But honestly, y’all. I think the only thing one is allowed to talk about on the Internet without getting into ANY trouble at all and is still (for some reason) considered “taboo” is pooping and farting. Which I never quite understood why….
I have seen so many instances of people seizing upon one word or one small phrase in a post completely out of context and ranting about the insensitivity of it all. I am so very tired of explaining that sometimes things are meant sarcastically and that is a difficult thing to infer through writing unless you know the writer quite well. Or sometimes you just say something not meaning to offend and you end up offending someone. The bottom line is that anyone who does not have the sense of humor or the grace to understand when I am aiming for laughs can find another page to read. There are very many non-humorous, carefully written pages out there so there is something for everyone.
this is what makes you who you are michele. this mode of comunication isn’t very good at comunicating, at least that’s what i think. to sit down with you and have a conversation like the old days would be so much nicer. humor, sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek comments sorta get lost in the translation and everyone tend to be so defensive. i think i pissed somebody off here the other day and i was joking around so now i feel like i can’t even do that…or should i, that’s what makes me who i am(sarcastic and looking for a laugh and the lowbrow stuff is my favorite since it makes socialites feel so much better about themselves..hehehehe)….so keep doing what you’re doing, i’m addicted to this place and your life.

Greg, I think I know who you think you pissed off. I have thought that about him several times. But then I just realized that he’s a very very serious person (at least online). Apparently, he’s not serious at all in person so Toby Joe tells me as they once worked together.
Here’s the deal tho, as long as no one on here ever calls someone names or says to “fuck off” I don’t care what you say. In fact, I want EVERYONE to say what’s on their mind I don’t care if said comment is offensive for someone or not. Basically, the only thing off limits is if someone finds comedy in cruelty (especially regarding animals). That’s where I must draw the line personally. Otherwise, say anything. That’s why I started this damn thing in the first place.
Let me rephrase that: If someone is merely name calling, then that’s just stupid and shallow. If someone happens to write something about how much they dislike brown rice and someone else really likes brown rice and becomes angry, then they can go the hell away. It’s as simple as that. :] Can you imagine life without ever having to become irritable or disagree with someone else during a debate? We’d all be total morons.
word
I originally wanted to call mihow names in this post
but then i started typing them, and damn, they’re too stupid to write
I often have mah honey-man check out my longer posts, looking for potentially offensive stuff…he’s my editor.
Well, considering we’re talking about Toby Joe in my case, that pretty much means the sky’s the limit as far as offensive material goes. It’s downright impossible to offend him. haha
Your honey-man for hire? :]
Aside from my joke about Ann Coulter getting raped, which I still maintain is hilarious, the only really offensive thing that I ever posted was a firsthand account of living with a clinically depressed ex-girlfriend, and how abusive and overwhelming her explicit problems were on me.
That only offended her though, and I took it down after a day. But, in retrospect, I think I might put it back up—as she merrily pretends that none of that stuff ever happened while she looks to the future, while I’m constantly reminded of the hell she put me through as I catch up on everything I put off to take care of her.
