Let’s talk about the camp created to take the homosexual out of the homosexual. The place is called The Refuge. The New York Times wrote about it on Sunday. I had no idea this type of camp existed. Similarly, there is another called Love and Action.
I wonder if they have a camp that takes the bigotry out of the fundamentalist Christian.

Was I the only one who thought to himself as he read that NYTimes article that there HAD to be a lot of hot gay sex going on in that place? I mean, you know that heavy kids are always smuggling Twinkies into fat camp.
Speaking of nazis and hitler, I watched a 2-hour program called “Hitler, Tyrant of Terror” yesterday on the History Channel. It started off with a narrator mentioning the fact that the US has compared Hussein to Hitler. So it broke it down for us all and in the end explained that one was completely insane while the other was not. I found it funny this aired yesterday and watched it in its entirety while eating popcorn.

Along the same lines, was I the only one who thought the photograph of the recovered gay man who started the camp and has been free of homosexual behaviors for over 12 years looked UNBELIEVABLY homosexual?
And that pastor? C’mon. He probably thinks that he has the best. job. ever. Comforting impressionable young mens and counseling them and teaching them the sweet delights of righteous living and . . . oh my lordy, gawdalmighty.
Those programs don’t cure homosexuality, they just repress it.
You’d probably get the same results if you forced a gay kid to join a frat and watch spike tv.

From what I’m told, joining a frat doesn’t always repress homosexuality. I had a friend who got more play there than gay night at Players.
I had a roommate who would use UGA IRC to chat with fratboys and meet up with em. He’d occasionally get beat up when a guy was finished with him. Not like, broken bones, but like a pop in the back of the head and a whole “get out of here, fag” thing.
I’ve known women who have been treated worse by frat boys.
Wait a minute, what kind of a mission statement is ”…designed to minister to adolescents struggling with broken and addictive behaviors…” ?
These kids aren’t struggling. How do you struggle with porn? (Don’t answer that.) It’s always the adults that sit back and judge and secretly partake.
People struggle with their own repression and instead of changing something about themselves, they want to continue with the repression. I think it comes down to envy and jealousy. Had individuals been able to be who they were all along, they might not want feel compelled to stop everyone else. It comes down to regret and realizing there is no restart button to ones life. It’s just too bad folks don’t realize it’s never too late to change.
