As some of you may have noticed, I changed my site design (again). And I’m looking for a little feedback. Toby Joe and I recreated the site on a whim last Saturday and we don’t have a Windows box at home to test things on. That being said, will any Windows users out there step up and let us know if anything looks funny? Similarly, does the navigation work? Does it make sense?
I’m on a Windows machine! I like it. The navigation seems to work great.
As for design, you could do something to fill the four inches of white space on the right side of the screen (unless the white space IS the statement). I don’t know if that shows up on a Mac, too. Maybe the same color as appears on the left side …
Also, get rid of the google ads. What do you make, like ten bucks a month off those things? They’re kind of yicky looking, and they distract from the overall aesthetic.
Or just tell me to stick it. That works too.
Yes, there is a lot of white space. On my Mac laptop it doesn’t seem as bad.
i dont usually have my browser all the way open, so the whitespace doesnt bother me. i don’t really care for the “last week” “tuesday” “next week” breadcrumbs….but otherwise i really like it. :)
But if we get rid of the bread crumbs, you can’t ever go back in time. Not that anyone would want to but that’s why they’re there. :]
Regarding the white space: this was brought up to me by a friend of mine as well. It’s funny, while it doesn’t particularly bother me, I can see that since folks are so used to seeing blogs centered that it might be seen as annoying. We’re working on that. My jury is still debating on how to change it if to change it at all.
I took 2 screenshots on a PC, one in IE and one in Firefox. Want me to email them to you?
Thank you, sherri. Got ‘em.
I have a windows machine here at work (oops am I surfing at work?? errr… no).. and it looks fine to me. I usually don’t have my browser monopolizing the screen, so the white space doesn’t bother me. Bring back poor taste!!
This isn’t exactly a design comment, but I’d love it if your site had an RSS or Atom feed I could subscribe to.
I like it. It’s very clean and minimalist. Easy to navigate. The white space doesn’t bother me, except that it’s a little tricky to locate the “Mihow”. I know it’s your site, but for those that don’t it may be tricky to decipher who you is, yo.
But for just me it is perfect, I love it. And we all know this is all about just me. Meeeeeeeeee.
It looks great in IE and Firefox on Xandros.
RSS feed?
::cough::
Toby Joe.
::cough::
You’re not the first person to write me about that, katie. :]
Regarding site Navigation—it would be cool if there was some indicator of what day I’m reading. When I “click last week,” then click “thursday,” I will logically be taken to the posts for Thursday.
That’s perfect!
However, if my short term memory is shot and I forget I’m on thursday and I want to go to the next day, I don’t know which day to click. Was I reading tuesday? I don’t remember.
There will soon be feedback on the day. There is an XSL condition I need to modify.
On another note, though, I wrote your damned RSS feed, with a comment count, so gimme a break, people!
DAMN!
Someone owes me a bottle of Sequoia Grove cab.
You’re so cute. I’ll love you long time tonight, my dear. After we get our pottery on. Of course.
Just to let you know – at the top… it says “elewhere” instead of “elsewhere”.. i’m guessing?
ha hahahhahah
hahahahhahahah
hahahhahahah
oops. thanks, kater. I will fire my proof reader pronto.
No, it’s not. See? See? It’s spelled just fine. ;]
just kidding. I fixed it.
what mojo said, is what i ment, with the breadcrumbs. not that you didnt need any navigation at all. i’m just used to “next” and “last” and “you are here”
me likey and works quite well with Windows
I like it. Easy to read and easy to navigate. It’s more about the content than the design now.
