Cats/Quark/tummy

I get my cats tomorrow! YAYA! However, it does make me sad knowing my parents will be without them and I have offered (and I mean it) to let them keep The Big Guy if they return Pookum, but they have said no. I mean this sincerely that their happiness is most important. So if they get true joy out of The Big Guy, they should consider keeping him. If it were ANYONE else in the entire big
world, there would be no way I’d give my cats away. I miss those fuzzy bastards. (This feels like Kramer vs Kramer and the painted cloud room and the pancakes [or was it french toast] don’t take it to court. We can settle this on our own). :]
I got grumpy last night. I have no idea why. And then I couldn’t sleep. It was too hot, or too cold or I wasn’t feeling well or something else. Sucked. Now I’m tired and my tummy is still messed up. I hope I’m not getting sick again. That won’t work.
And tonight. What’s on the menu for tonight? This QuarkXpress/OS X thing is really, really annoying. I want to be up to date on the latest technology as much as possible, but I use Quark nearly 80 percent or more of my work day. And my laptop runs OSX (I don’t have classic installed) so I can’t use the program I need the most. Therefore, I think Toby and I are going to zap my laptop, add OS 9 and OS X and be done with it all. We’re going to buy an external drive to back up all our data. So tonight could be long and kinda annoying, but it has to be done. This is SO annoying. I don’t understand why Quark can’t have their act together enough to put out up-to-date software and if I didn’t so many active jobs and tight deadlines, I’d vow never to use them again and turn completely to InDesign. As it stands now, I really can’t. (Speaking of design related issues—Designable.org will be up by Monday).

  1. Maybe your parents turned down The Big Guy, ‘cause he was eating them out of house and home. Poor
    tie kittie.

  2. Yes, there’s a report that he gained even more weight. Apparently in the two months he’s been there, he’s gained two pounds. He’s The Big Guy.

That’s two more pounds of love.

  5. Andrea, so talk to me… you’re using only InDesign? What do you do with rollover projects? I know it opens Quark files but I’m worried about formatting and shit. Any notes/suggestions/things to watch out for?

I’m doing a 350 page book (it’s done in Quark) and can’t afford even the slightest throw off, you know?

  7. The only things I have opened in InDesign from Quark are small things like brochures and flyers. I haven’t had any problems with it converting anything…except occasionaly a stroke or frame might come through thicker or smaller, but can be fixed. I would think you could bring in your large projects fine as well, but you’ll probably need to spend extra time checking it over to be sure everything is ok.
So I guess time-wise, I’d keep your 350 page book in Quark for now to avoid the off chance something does fuck up.
But after that—demand freedom. demand happiness. demand indesign :)

(ok-i’m not really that hardcore with indesign, but, quark-is just, ARGH!)

  8. “secret santa” (if that is your real name) I got the Pookster from Paws. Sugarlips is SUPER cute. We’ll have to do something about this indeed. I kinda like Mimosa and Bethany. I mean look at Bethany, she’s just layin around, snoozin.

(i’m inches form a spaz attack).

  11. Tanner looks like a bruiser, a tough guy. I like Seal too, he has a nice puffy tail.

Paws is the best. Everytime I go home we end up going to the pet store where Paws shows animals for adoption. Last time I almost ran away with this giant rabbit. it was huge, like a dog.

  12. Sam’s super cute. Renee was meant to be in pictures. Someone sign her up for Cat Fancy (aka “Kitty Playboy”)

    Too funny. Holy crap.

Nico, do you think Oscar would have tried to ride the rabbit? Maybe to escape from the Herminator?

  15. The kitties are coming back! They haven’t figured out anything is up yet. At least this time I’ll have Momhow to keep the raging bull under control so he doesn’t trash my car. Pookums will probably play dead again. BTW, who is going to pay for all the rugs that need to be replaced due to Kitty Olympics?
One last thing – we’ll need some references from friends and neighbors before we’ll leave the kitties. And we’ll want a Megan’s Law (now I know why they call it that) check done to make sure there are no cat predators in your area.

  16. I think the rabbit would have taken charge, strutting through the house, elbowing everyone out of the way with a cigarette dangling from his rabbit lips.

Although I could only hope for a rabbit-ridin’ cat rodeo.

  17. It’s true. My kittie, Winston, was a victim of a cat predator. :( They picked him up and kissed him lots, violating his kitty rights. The horrrror.

  18. There are two cats not pictured at PAWS that I’m sure mom and dad would love.

One actually cleans the back of your head for you and you can walk around holding the cat upside down and it’ll act like nothing is out of the ordinary. Try walking around holding Shmitty upside down and see what happens to ya.

SWEET JESUS people!! I’m stuck living with four cats!! Someone take pitty on me (looking at you dad) and adopt two of them.

YES! quark will die, it really really will. since, I switched over to broadcast I have only used it twice in a year, and then just to shove a psd design flattened in a plain page for the printer. heehee. i love it. All other print that comes al ong is nhardly ever multi page so I use illustrator. yes! you too can push back the evil beast that is becalled “quark”. but untill you can give it that final push off the cliff, just install classic, why did you remove it if you need quark everyday, all day? me don’t get? (not to be a smartass or nothing).
