I printed and mounted a life-size, cardboard cutout of Bernie Sanders and my family took him all around DC. We wanted to make people smile, spread a tiny bit of joy out into the world and get some sunshine! And my goodness, did it ever do the trick!
We took him to the Tow Path. We took him to Roosevelt Island, the Washington Monument and even out to eat! Bernie blew over several times but always got back up again. He did nearly end up in the Potomac River, though.
Countless people stopped to take pictures with Flat Bernie. We interacted with people we never would have had the pleasure to otherwise. I feel deeply grateful and my face hurts from smiling so much. I love, love, love my fellow humans. What a beautiful world in which we live. This day could not have held more joy.
