Le beaujolais est arrive!

Over the last several months, many people have requested I make wine-flavored lollipops. I never thought it’d be possible, to be honest. But over the weekend I was at a boutique shop here in Brooklyn and noticed handmade candy canes for sale. While the candy canes are all made with corn syrup, they are also made with wine (or made to taste like wine). Inspired, I gave it a shot.

My first wine-flavored lollipop is seasonal. It’s called The Beaujolais. And, yes. I used actual beaujolais to make them.

There are more to come and I’ll surely be posting them here as I add them to my store. I wanted to see how this one went over before rolling out all the rest. This is new territory for me! I’ve done teas and am quite pleased with the outcome, but wine? Totally new territory for me. But it’s been quite awesome. Stop by!

Lastly, I’m always taking flavor suggestions. If you’ve ever desired a certain lollipop flavor, please let me know. I am happy to give just about anything a try. And the weirder, the better!

  1. Nutella? Oh be still my heart if you could…

Cotton Candy has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine as well but that’s pretty normal. I know my boyfriend would love any that tasted like coffee.

  2. I don’t remember if this has been addressed before, but with the sampler pack, is it possible to choose which flavors I would receive?

  3. Oh, and I have an idea for a flavor. There’s an ice cream shop here in Minneapolis that has an ice cream consisting of bananas, caramel, and chocolate. It’s amazing, and I’m guessing it would be even better in lollipop form.

  4. Pascha! Hello. I just made an edit over on Etsy taking requests for Sampler Packs. I should have done that sooner. I can’t promise all six! But I have been granting requests. Might as well make a note of it to everyone! So, yes.

    And I’ll happily try that!

I will do Nutella as well. I love me some hazelnuts.

  5. One of my oddly favorite flavors comes from a donut shop called Peace, Love and Little Donuts on the Strip District in Pittsburgh–it’s a maple donut topped with bacon. I mean, really, any excuse for bacon!

I don’t know how popular it would be, but my equally odd husband is always searching out habanero and chocolate flavored things.

  6. @Alyssa my grandma used to make us pancakes with a slice of bacon cooked right into it (pouring the batter on the strip). I’d go for those maple bacon donuts!

I’d like a chocolate coffee something something, or something that’s savory and sweet at the same time.

    1. Many have requested bacon, but I vowed from the get-go to not include meat of any kind in my lollipops. :] I’d like to make them as animal-friendly as possible. With the exception of The Box Office (which MAY include real butter) I don’t even have any dairy involved. I do apologize to all the bacon lovers out there. That likely will never change. However! Maybe veggie bacon! I’m sure that would go over supremely well. hahhaa

I love the idea of chocolate and habenero and will try that soon. Great idea! Chocolate/coffee of some type! Also a great idea! More to come, my friends.

  7. I bet if you used vegan no one would know, it’s just for a smokey flavor:) It’s like how every holiday I use a whole grain pasta in my mac & cheese and never tell:)

  8. Michele-

I use diced chipotles for cornbread. Folks that insisted on bacon fat being used to make cornbread have loved them. I use the dried ones, steeped in hot water, then deseeded and minced or diced.

Maybe something along those lines can work for you.
