It’s a…

BOY! Brothers! How awesome is that?

I can’t wait to tell Em when I pick him up from school. He’s going to lose his mind. He’s been asking for a brother since day one. Yay! Penis!

The only downside to today was the whole having to drink 20 ounces of water before the exam. I very nearly peed myself. The pain got to be so unbearable, I actually cheated and let a little out before they called me back into the exam room. (Talk about control, people!) Naturally, in typical baby fashion and like Em did years earlier, I have to go back tomorrow because he wouldn’t cooperate with the ultrasound technician and give us a frontal view. (We weren’t able to get a clear view of his heart and face. With Em it was the spine and kidneys. They’re already opposites!)

So, yeah. Brothers. I’m gonna be a mama to two boys.

I’m so freaking happy.

  7. Yay! We found out we are having a boy too! I had to cheat with the pee thing as well, lol. It’s rough! Funny thing though, as soon as I laid down and the sonographer started, she asked, “Do you want a boy or a girl?” and then immediately was able to tell us it was a boy! He must have been excited to share the news with us, because damn, that was cooperative!

  11. Congratulations! You guys must be so excited! Just a tip – I just went in for an ultrasound for some testing, and like you, was so uncomfortable and about to pee myself. The tech immediately saw my exploding bladder on the screen and told me to go to the bathroom and then she could still see everything fine for the ultrasound. She said pregnant women usually always have something in their bladder, and that I don’t need to go overboard in drinking water (even though they told me in advance that I should). So maybe tomorrow you can drink a little less and be a little more comfortable? Just a thought.

    1. Thanks, everyone! Yeah. TWO boys! I’m going to be chasing TWO BOYS AROUND! I’m screwed. But, hey, if this fella is anything like Emory? I’ll be skinny until the day I die. ;]

Amy: Thanks for the tip. Tomorrow I was told to drink two giant glasses of juice so he’s doing summersaults. That should be fun.

Tara: I will get a video! I promise. He already knows, but we were out so I don’t think it sunk in. Will do it tonight over dinner. :]

I have to tell Murray too! Oh boy.

    1. Jennifer: It’s comments like that might keep me writing. Somedays I think, What the hell do you have to say anyway? I’ve been in a big rut lately. So, thank you for saying that. It means a great deal, actually. And acts as much needed fuel to keep going.

Randi: A mom to two boys! Do tell me WHAT do I have in store? :]

  15. Mine are further apart than yours will be. Evan had just turned 4 when Joe was born so he didn’t much pay attention to him…until Joe became mobile! Emory will probably loooooooovvvvvveeee his baby brother until the baby starts messing with his stuff…then it’s game over! Evan still loves Joe but wishes so much that Joe would leave him alone! I’m sure they will be the best of friends someday.

Oh, and before you even THINK about feeding the baby, get Emory something to snack on and drink. The second you start feeding the baby, no matter if it’s bottle, boobs or what, Emory will HAVE TO HAVE A DRINK RIGHT NOW THANKYOU! But that may be the case with all big brothers/sisters.

I am SO happy for you. For real. 2 boys is amazing.

  17. Congratulations! Two boys are so much fun. My two boys are 19 months apart and the oldest will only be 3 in two month’s time! They kick my butt every day but we have tons of fun and it is so exciting to see them start to play together and have more fun. It is hard for a few months at the start when the older one has to accept that his brother is still just a baby but boy the babies catch up so quick and then the fun starts. You’re right about running after them all day long. You’ll never rest. Wine is my friend after everyone is in bed at night. So happy for you.

  18. What great news! Congratulations :) As the mother of two boys (4 and 16 months), I can tell you it is going to be a lot fun. Hard work, yes, but soooo much fun. My kids are interacting a lot more, which is great to watch. Also, you will not believe how great is to utilize hand me downs. I haven’t had to buy a THING for #2! I know what you mean by opposite personalities – mine are the same way. #2 is already a downright terror. But his sweet smile more than makes up for it!
I hope you are feeling ok!
