There is Something in the Air Today

The last time I had a strange sensation about a day, two planes flew into the World Trade Center. The thing about that was I never said it out loud and so I wasn’t sure if I thought I had the sensation ahead of time or if I decided I had the sensation ahead of time after the fact. I’m not sure if that makes any sense.

I’m not going to get all doom and gloom on ya, because the day actually looks quite lovely, but there’s something in the air today and it’s not an easy feeling. Today seems to want to introduce the people I know to more and more bad news. At least that’s how it seems.

I just got back from taking a walk with Emory. We went to the park and I let him swing for a while. Everything went well, nothing strange happened. But if it’s OK with you, I think that I’ll stay put for the remainder of today.

(April 3, 2008 made me feel uneasy.)

  1. Look like you were right, CNN has a yellow breaking news banner:

Supermodel Naomi Campbell handcuffed, removed by police from passenger jet at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, UK media report.

The end of the world as we know it.

  3. hmmm. that’s interesting. last night i had a break down when i heard the coldplay song “fix you”. it always puts my daughter to sleep nicely but the down side is the tears that come thinking how many of other’s “babies” were lost on 9-11. i think that song was used in the ad for the 9-11 movie. (??) so it’s sort of odd that you post this….

it’s dreary here today and i think i’ll stay put as well.

  4. Yeah, don’t read the article released today about the number of babies beaten or neglected by their parents. I think people who hurt babies should be shot in the head. I don’t understand how anyone could hurt one.

  5. I had the exact same thought today. My day started off like crap, then I was reading twitter and noticing soo many other people were also having crap days. I almost commented on it but I didn’t want to stir the pot.

Seriously though, if something as horrible as 9-11 happens today I’m going to lose my shit. For more than the obvious reason.

Ps. so cute how you left yourself a little note at the bottom in brackets.

  7. I get that feeling now and again, premonitions about gang shootings on my block and I’m usually right. Not saying I can tell the future, just saying we’ve got a gang problem. Chicago’s south side is going through some violent times, more so than usual.

  8. I had a good day yesterday, but that could’ve been because it was the first day I went to work without a jacket since October! Yipee!

I think its really interesting though how people have a sixth sense about nasty things happening. I had that when my mom passed away so whenever I get that feeling now, I don’t write it off as bullshit.

  9. Just wanted to let you know that I saw the kosher for Passover Coke in the store yesterday. I know (from a previous post) that you like the original recipe and as soon as I saw it, I thought of you. I figured you might forget to look so this is just a reminder. I hope that the rest your day went well!

  10. Yay! Thanks, Smileyes. I’ll be on the lookout. I have been craving coke lately, oddly enough. I almost broke down and bought one yesterday but the HFCS kept me away! Thanks!

(PS. sorry this post sounded so glum yesterday. It wasn’t a bad day at all. But we did stay put.)

  11. Unfortunately, in my experience anyway, those feelings that something is “off” turn out to be accurate. People are far more intuitive than they realize or care to admit…always listen to your instinct.

  12. I had that weird feeling on Sept. 10th (actually for a couple weeks leading up to it) and it sorta centered around planes. I’m pretty sure it was because Aaliyah died in a plane crash not long before Sept. 11th and it was all over the news, and my mom went on a long flight the week before and I was just anxious about her flying.

It’s interesting that so many people felt off yesterday. I really believe that means something-I just hope not anything nearly as bad as 9/11.
