A friend of mine from way, way back when is a pretty amazing jewelry designer. Her creations have been worn by Eva Langoria, Anne Hathaway and Cameron Diaz. Impressive! Check it out.
Her name is Joy. She lives in San Francisco. I went to college with her and her husband.
(P.S. I’m hoping to link to more Web sites. It occurred to me recently that I don’t do this nearly as much as I should. Stay tuned for more in the future! Also, if you’re a designer and/or artist of any type, send me a link to your work! I’d love to see what you do.)
Mom It Down will return next week. I haven’t had time to bake! My apologies!

Before I became a mother, I was a full time graphic designer. I love graphic design. I don’t get to do it much these days for obvious reasons, but someday I will return to it. There is nothing more exciting to me than identity design. Seriously. I could spend the rest of my working days here on Earth designing logos. I love them.

We received the genetics report back from my doctor yesterday.
I had been anticipating yesterday’s phone call since my D&C took place a month ago. I worried that the report would bring us results suggesting that I had done something wrong. (I think every parent thinks that.) I worried it might be something on Toby’s end. I thought the report might inform us that there was something horribly wrong with our genetic makeup. I mostly worried about my age and the eggs I have left. But none of that was the case with this pregnancy.

It’s been four weeks since I had my D&C and four weeks, two days since they told me they could no longer find a heartbeat. And, get this: I’m still pregnant. My hCG levels are at 79. They dropped a measly 61 points over the last 7 days. I still have pregnancy symptoms, yet no baby—no growing belly.

It’s been really hot lately, which means our outside time has been cut in half. Lately, I’ve been taking Emory out in the morning for a few hours and returning home before it gets too unbearable. The excessive heat has me brainstorming more exciting indoor activities, which is why we recently brought out the paint and made a massive mess. I knew Emory would love this; what kid doesn’t love painting? But what I hadn’t anticipated was how much Murray would enjoy the activity. He was at Emory’s side the entire time.

This summertime treat is so light and fluffy, it’s the perfect substitute for cake on a hot summer day. Not only does it taste awesome, but your home will smell like a pancake house. (True story: while this was in the oven on Saturday, our Fresh Direct delivery showed up and the two guys would not stop talking about how great our hallway and apartment smelled.)

These puppies are sooooooo easy to make! I have a more advanced version of an oatmeal raisin cookie, but they’re more of a fall thing, so I’ll likely do those later on in the year. These guys are a bit lighter, so I figured, what the hey? Plus, my kid is coming down from a weekend full of cake and cupcakes. (It was his second birthday on Saturday!) Instead of cutting off the continuous flow of sugar cold turkey, I figured I’d better wean him off with some cookies.
