Great post! I never would have guessed that you are from a Republican family!

I always managed to vote in college but that’s probably b/c in Texas they have early voting for students, which meant a week or more of voting ahead of time=no lines! So it was easy. I literally did it between classes. One day I actually gave blood and voted for president on the same day b/c both stations were at the main library!

I did early voting this year for the first time. LOVE IT. And they’ll automatically send it to me every election. I think that is fantastic. I was always a good voter, but with a kid and work and everything, it gets hard to juggle things.

We all have to vote, no matter who you vote for. Participation is so important. If this country had higher voting participation I think we’d have a different country.

Good for your mom – and you! My parents are die hards in getting us kids to vote…it’s a priviledge we take seriously.

On the college students note: we’re running shuttle buses from campus to voting places this year – it’s a big deal and the word is out that every vote counts! :-)

My friend in Minneapolis offered to give anyone rides to the polls. Because sometimes the elderly need rides too. Voting is one of the few rights we do have, I find it hard to understand that people forget that this is the time to stand up and be counted.

I am going to vote tomorrow, because I feel like I will not have time next Tuesday (I am in Ohio). I am taking the maximum amount of hours at my university and working 15 hours. I know a lot of people who WILL vote on Tuesday, or who have voted, but I know a lot of people who probably will not. Some of them are just fed up with the campaign, some of them don’t seem to realize that they are not required to vote on everything on the ballot… I could go on and on.

I am so excited for my friends to vote, though I am a little less enthused at this point, because they realize what a big deal this is. I don’t think they realize VOTING is important yet, but they are getting there – and that makes me proud of my age group/demographic, for once. I just hope they didn’t mess up the local elections when they early voted. :)

And I would have done the same thing your mom did. I’ve already bribed my boyfriend into registering and lucked out that he’s planning to vote the same way I am. Hurrah!
