Elsewhere

Our friend, George, is featured on Philly’s City Paper podcast. Such awesome news. George is a rockstar. (My commentary will be put in the comments section. I’m sure everyone cares about what I have to say.)
Also, this is one of the funniest things I have ever read on the Internet. I think I actually mean that, too.

I totally forgot to turn on comments today. i suck.
I’m streaming the MP3 now. It’s actually quite good!
And sarah B. is the freaking greatest. Now, if only she and I could arrange that cupcake date we’ve been talking about.

I’m going to continue talking to myself. I like the first guy. Nico, if you read this, do you guys know his work? All these fellers are from Philly? I need more information and I am too lazy to find it on my own.
Help.

Yes, this biweekly podcast is all local Philly folks. It is organized by Jon Solomon, a DJ on Princeton station WPRB, who I’m told is sort of an indie rock DJ big shot.
I haven’t actually listened to it yet. If you scroll down from the links there is a playlist. George is third to last.

Ah! Thank you.
Is Greg going to be on here? ;] Foreman? heh
Or is he in Florida now? I totally forget.
The second band wasn’t good at all. Ouch, my ears.

I can’t read apparently.
I kinda dig the Jane Anchor as well. Oh my, Philly, it ain’t just cream cheese anymore. Or cheesesteaks.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:20 AM
How come bands who sound “That” way have names/albums and song titles like this one:
The Sympathizers “Our Meterologist Tom Verlaine (Power Failure Dub)” – Dread At The Control
EDIT MUCH?!!
You know exactly how they sound without hearing them, don’t you? That’s what I thought.
Get your chaps out! We’re going dancin’!
March 15th, 2006 at 09:21 AM
Oh, there is plenty of cheese of all kinds, believe you me…
Speaking of cheese, I don’t think Gregg (a third G added at some point) lives here anymore. But he apparently remains locally infamous for heroin-based exploits.

Audible, my babies, you’re too quiet. I can’t hear ya.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:23 AM
Oh my. Man Man “Tunneling Through The Guy” – Six Demon Bag
Is next. I gotta get my lube reaady.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:26 AM
Man Man, Man, you suck.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:29 AM
HA!
I wish Man Man was “gay-oriented” rather than what they are, which I’m pretty sure are regular old indie rock guys with beards.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:30 AM
HA! Good. They have “next big thing” buzz. I think they suck too.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:31 AM
Jukebox Zeros: Heart of Darkness part two. (that one is for Nico).
I think I might need therapy after this song.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:33 AM
Thee Minks “Outta Your Head” – Are You Ready Now?
I am ready now. Gotta get that last song out of my head. That’s for damn sure
So far, the chicks are winning, ‘cept for the first feller.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:40 AM
Bitter, Bitter Weeks “Once And For All” – Peace Is Burning Like A River
Peace is burning like a river? What the hell does that even mean? While the song wasn’t horrible, what does that mean?
March 15th, 2006 at 09:44 AM
Pink Skull “Circus Bezerkus” – Unreleased
Pictures Kylie Minogue’s shaking ass.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:46 AM
You are the greatest! Are you aware of this TequilaCon blog thingy happening in NYC on the weekend of April 22nd? Let me know if you aren’t. This is getting silly, though. I live so close! Why haven’t I come met you yet? My friend is in the band National Eye listed on that cast. They were at SXSW.

D.B.L.I.T.Y. “Cut My Hair Today” – Allentown Anglophile
“I Cut my hair today, ain’t got nothing more to say…”
Dude, then why you singing about it?
March 15th, 2006 at 09:48 AM
No, seriously, D.B.L.I.T.Y., You totally frequented the Rocky Horror Picture show, didn’t you?
March 15th, 2006 at 09:51 AM
Buried Beds “Anchor & Sea” – Empty Rooms
Dorm dwellers and college students: if you’re sick of having sex while listening to Low, let me introduce you to Anchor and Sea.
(Wasn’t there a band called the Sea and Anchor? Did they rearrange themselves?)
March 15th, 2006 at 09:55 AM
I just realized you were probably talking about a different Sarah B. But I still want cupcakes with you.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:56 AM
Excelsior “Can I Get Some Satisfaction Up In This Piece?” – Can We Get Some
Excelsior, I’m going to forgive me because you made me think of the Royal Trux.
March 15th, 2006 at 09:58 AM
Wait, you’re sarah b, too? I had no idea! I’d like to have cupcakes with you too. And you are the greatest, but I already told you that.
Doesn’t hurt to do it again.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:04 AM
The Misteriosos “Now” – S/T
Ok, there is definitely a Philly sound running around. Three bands now have sounded very similar.
Royal Trux meets the Cynics, meets an organ, meets an on purpose dirty sound sorta like ripping a 1000 dollar pair of jeans.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:05 AM
Like Moving Insects “The Witching Hour” – Musical Album
You sound like your name. Good job.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:09 AM
George Draguns “Tandoori Nightmare” – Huffing Gas
I think some folks who came before you were the inspiration in the naming of your album.
George Draguns is his real name.
I’m partial to the rhythm.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:11 AM
Motumbo’s Hospital “Snakebite” – Three Small Sounds
When one looks up the term “Basment Show”, “Indie Rock”, “Did you get the flyer?” one hears you.
Not bad, sirs. And very DC of you.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:15 AM
The Teeth “Oh, Bessie!” – Carry The Wood
You made my head dance. That’s a good thing.
No cavities. Have a lolly.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:16 AM
My work is done here. That was fun. More fun than I thought it’d be.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:19 AM
jon solomon is a big cheese in these indie parts (at least was during a certain run in the late 90’s – early 00’s) – he runs My Pal God Records, for which put out what is IMO THE rawk record, Hurl’s “Not a Memory”
March 15th, 2006 at 10:25 AM
Send me an MP3.
doooooo it.
March 15th, 2006 at 10:48 AM
Michele, you know Hurl. Imagine yourself sitting on a west college avenue porch. You know it.
Personally, I’m trying to forget it all.
The best song I’ve heard in quite a while is the new Prince single. Black Sweat. hooooottt!
March 15th, 2006 at 12:50 PM

March 15th, 2006 at 12:55 PM

March 15th, 2006 at 01:08 PM

March 15th, 2006 at 01:10 PM
Yeah, after my excitment wore off, I got what you meant.
I get excited very easily.
