maybe someone who doesn’t own the bike drew that to be evil and harrass the owner of the bike? perhaps it was someone who wants random people to kick the ass of the bike owner? wishful thinking on my part?

perhaps the owner of the bike is being outed. hard to say. doesn’t seem like something someone would proudly display but then, i don’t know the vibe of people in greenpoint all that well and i have experienced at least one person who lives sort of near you complaining about “all the hasids” in brooklyn, or cab driver complaining about “them” at nyu. Scary (especially since i would have been rounded up too, not sure how the haters get so bold – just proves they’re stupid imho).

doesn’t sound like you can sit next to this person while they watch the news and hear which way their opinion goes. look at me, assuming they watch the news. ha! i’m naive.

if it makes you feel better draw a big red circle and slash over the symbol and call it a day. i’d be alarmed by that too though.

    Maybe it’s a non-nazi Swastika?

I think the other symbol goes in the other direction.

I have seen white power skinheads around our streets before. I saw a group of them in the park one day while I was reading. They wore the logos, the gear. They even had the dog.

It seems strange to me and I don’t pretend to know much about skinheads but I live in Greenpoint in the very Polish area of GP. The people on the second floor of our apt building fled Poland during the Nazi Regime. Are there Polish skinheads? I’m sure there are but it still seems weird. Did I totally fall asleep during that part of my Fascism and Nazism class?

I got to see the photo! The censors must be sleeping.

I was in Poland this summer Aushwitz, Birkenhau… I visited small Jewish graveyards that were vandalized just recently but really the Poles are still hurting from the Nazi Regime. We talked about it a lot and the sadness and fright is still fresh in people’s my parents age.

I think idiots are everywhere though.

Oh my God Toby Jo. You are a cruel man. What do you want more a logo or a happy home?

  13. nico said at 10:27 am on October 9th, 2006:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Richard Kern just called. I gave him your number.

  14. Jonathan said at 10:27 am on October 9th, 2006:

i made it my icon too

chances are its either a hippie doing a non-nazi swastika ( they go both ways ) , or some asshole kids drew it onto a random bike. i kind of think its the latter—if the kids were promoting it, they’d do a fancy job. that looks like a rush job from a drunk kid who needs to be beat up for being racist and defacing other people’s property for fun.

    long sentence.

can someone make the top of mihow.com clickable—like the logo?

most blogs have that as a link to the front page. i was clicking on nothing. made me feel stupid.

Tobyjoe would do that but chances are I’ll have to wait until I finally complete his logo.

I have been emailed about as much too.

Can I claim that I’m not your father based on that photo?

  17. mihow said at 10:27 am on October 9th, 2006:

I clearly need to save some face here, don’t I? See, I had a friend who did this sort of thing. For some reason, she liked to take her girlfriends (there was no hanky-panky, i freaking promise) and apply a crapload of make up on us and put us in stupid poses like we were in (as Nico mentioned) a Richard Kern film or (if you’re Jamie who is really well stacked) a Russ Meyer film. They were stupid photo art projects. The scenes may look much more intriguing or weird or gay than they really were. Or they may just seem totally cliché. Or you may never talk to me again. Or you might disown me. It only now occurred to me I could have deleted his comment. I’m an idiot.
