Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co.

Just purchased two wonderful tickets to see Songs: Ohia at South Paw in Brooklyn on the 18th of August. I freaking love this man/band. Jason Molina once inspired a mihow post about how much I adore my then boyfriend, now husband. He’s also gotten me through countless bouts with depression and numerous bus rides to and from places I’d much rather be right now.
He appears to be easy on the eyes, too.

I got a ticket! And by the way—Clap Your Hands, etc. is playing for free in August (forget the date offhand and too lazy to check) at Pier 17. South Street Seaport? Same place, I guess.

I have taken to calling them “Clap”. Toby refers to them as “Clap Your Hands and Fuck Annunciation.”

Jon, it’s almost as if you’ve never actually used the Internet. I paid a service charge. I am not sure you can find a place that does not have one. But I don’t usually care too much about them after it backfired for Eddie Vedder. (Ok, that’s not true either, but he’s who came to mind). You want cheap! Go see Fugazi!

I refuse, flat out, to pay more than 10% of a ticket price as a ‘service charge’ for someone to mail me a ticket or put me on a will call list
It’s absurd.
Ticketweb costs like $3, and ticketmaster is up to something like 50% ticket price.
Usually a few record stores will sell tickets with a $1-2 service charge , or the box office will sell tickets with none

Well, often times I would rather pay a few more dollars rather then cart my ass down to whatever box office with whatever weird hours is selling the tickets. In this heat, you couldn’t pay me money to go get the tickets in Park Slope, save five bucks or not. I’d rather stay home and watch movies. :]
