Hello, New Lovely.
posted by mihow on November 4th, 2005
Last night, I visited the guitar shop on 1st Avenue and 10th street to get some strings for my hand-me-down acoustic. I left with a new guitar.
My fingertips are killing me.

Long time no surf for me. Congrats on the new axe (snerk, I think it’s funny when people call guitars that). I though tthis site would interest you, because you’ve long been interested in where your readers are. An excellent Google hack. Shout out from DC!!

Ooh Ooh Ooh! Is it accoustic or electric? What kind? This makes me very happy in my pants!

She got an acoustic by Alvarez. I also ordered one from Bill Blue at Liberty—a biscuit bridge bell brass resonator.

Mine is still a cheapy. But man is she ever purty. :] And, yes, it’s a girl. It sounds amazing. I am very happy with it. Came with a case and everything.

Livingroom is right. Last night Toby said, “I don’t have the option to use a strap. Probably because they’re too heavy.” I said, “Yeah, I didn’t one either. I probably should have since I ended up getting the larger sized guitar. But it’s not like we’ll be playing out or standing up ever.” Toby replied, “Yeah, we’ll play for our livingroom.” “We’ll play from our couches for our cats.”
It’s true.

In the latest issue of Make there’s an article about how to make a cigar-box guitar that has me all excited to go borrow a bunch of my dad’s power tools.

Amanda and I share the same brain. I immediately said “Ooh Ooh Ooh! Is it accoustic or electric? What kind?” Although I didn’t say “This makes me very happy in my pants!”
(we don’t share the same pants)

I got an acoustic. It’s a cheapy Alvarez. It’s darker wood. I’m totally loving it. :] It’s my third acoustic and it’s by far better sounding than my other two. My electric guitar is one from the 80s. And it ran me 50 bucks at the country fair. I told the guy about it last night and he was super excited about it. He suggested I bring it in that something I might consider useless might actually be worth something. Funny.

if it’s from the eighties, it’s “vintage.” I go to Willies Guitars and drool at the cool old stuff. If it’s old, it’s expensive. If it’s old and beat up, it’s really really expensive.

now, I am so unbelievably curious. It might actually be worth like five bucks.

OMG, how weird…I just bought a new (to me, at least) guitar tonight. Acoustic. Yamaha F310. I taught myself a few chords tonight (I’m a beginner) and my left hand is about to fall off. Maybe once I learn a few more tricks, we can go jam in the subways for cash. :-)

This is so exciting. I hope we get a chance to play some when we head that way. I don’t know that I’ll be able to bring my guitar but I’ll try!

i bought a banjo at the flea market 4 years ago and it is still sitting in the corner collecting dust. Everytime i pick it up i break a string, then i go buy new strings, and then i break another one. Maybe i need lessons. Or maybe i just needed inspiration from your hot looking guitars!
